The Palo Alto Data Science Association meet-up on Thursday, March 6 is being sponsored by Facebook at the Menlo Park campus. You’ll have an opportunity to peak under the hood at Facebook to see what they’re doing in the world of analytics. Members of the data science team will join us for an open discussion on some of the latest approaches they’re taking to the engine that drives the #1 social media site on the planet.
Our guest speaker for the evening is Peter Zadrozny, CEO of Opallios, author of Big Data Analytics Using Splunk, and Adjunct Professor of Big Data Analytics at San Jose State University. Peter will walk us through a detailed sentiment analysis—from how to source the data to the tools and techniques used to glean valuable insights from “unstructured” data.
"Under the hood " at Facebook will be hosted by Cinna Julie Wu, from the
Data Warehouse and Reporting team. CInna will be speaking about Fast
Movers, a data monitoring and alert tool which identifies unusual
changes in data. We also have Itamar Rosenn from the Data
Infrastructure team who will be doing a deep dive into Deltoid.
